It should be noted that the sockets presented here are only a subset of the many custom sockets we have designed and built over more than 30 years of dedicated, conscientious service.

Hook Pin Relay

Design Notes:
This Kelvin Test Socket presented an interesting challenge: Accommodating leads of three different lengths having three different angles of contact. Our Kelvin contact design provided for these precise anchoring demands, without maintenance hindering adhesives. Additionally, our customer required a test socket that could be gripped tightly during the shrink-freeze insertion stage. Our research showed that glass filled Teflon as the socket substrate would meet that requirement. Our customer was especially complimentary on our precision and materials selection.

Straight Pin Relay

Design Notes:
Also a Kelvin Test Socket, this "is a nice little one, but... as can be seen, there's no rocket science involved here," says the in-house design engineer. This one was also built to withstand extreme freezing and vibration. This is a good example of simple X / Y work that we do.

Design Notes:
This generic TO package is a Kelvin test socket. Typically, we are asked to accommodate significantly longer leads when designing TO packages. This socket demonstrates a specific instance where we built a socket with a long lead-in guide and support.

Low Insertion Force (LIF)

Design Notes:
This particular socket was made to test Half-brick, DC-DC Converters. It sports all Kelvin and high-current contacts. The "wings" on either side of the socket act as levers that eject the brick. This device ejection feature was designed to meet the customer's corporate ergonomic policy requirements. Although designed and built in-house, this model is also sold by other companies under private label.

Zero Insertion Force (ZIF)

Design Notes:
Simple: Flip the lever. This non-Kelvin, Zero Insertion Force socket set on .100 centers is generally made for SIP-Type units. This socket can be produced in any length. Its manufacturing cycle is short--a very quick turnaround. Contacts are rated at 2 amps and are easily replaceable.

Design Notes:
This Kelvin test socket can be manufactured on .100 centers or greater... at ANY length. Socket orders of this kind are filled immediately from stock. In the event that length variations are required, customers still experience a quick turnaround. Contacts are rated at 15 amps and are easily replaceable.

Design Notes:
Our Surface Mount test sockets are world class (see our MicroPress SMT under the Featured Products menu). This is our typical clam-shell style socket for surface mount devices. It utilizes pogo pin contacts. Kelvin solutions can also be worked with a ball foot or double pogo scheme.

Design Notes:
This extractor tool, with magnetic pick-up, is used to remove Surface Mount Power Modules, when de-soldering them from a PCB. (Available for most models.)

Pogo Pin Sockets & Fixtures

At TOOLTRONICS, many variations of sockets and fixtures
can be manufactured using "off-the-shelf" Pogo Pins for connectivity.

PWB Enclosure Boxes

A variety of wiring boxes are availble, from TOOLTRONICS' stock,
for Test Socket and Test Fixture applications. Custom enclosures
requiring unique shapes and sizes can be manufactured in a
reasonable time frame.
